Maple Grove new build: one rack runs the whole house
We wired this home during framing, then built every room around one Control4 system. The living room has surround sound with nine in-ceiling speakers, and the bar, gym and bike room each have their own music or TV. Everything runs from a single wall-mounted rack, and the whole family controls it from a Control4 touchscreen or their phones.

Control4 can absolutely be worth it when you want a professionally designed and supported smart home rather than managing everything yourself. Apple Home and other consumer platforms can be great for homeowners who want to set up and manage compatible devices on their own. - Control4, Josh.ai or Basalte: which smart home system should I choose?
It depends on how your household wants to run the home, and all three are good choices. Control4 works with hundreds of third-party devices, so it suits homes with a lot of different equipment to tie together. Josh.ai is built around natural voice control and privacy, for households that would rather talk to the house than open an app. Basalte is about design: handcrafted Belgian keypads and panels for homes where the controls on the wall need to match the finishes.
- Can you take over a smart home system another company installed?
Yes, in many cases we can. We work with homeowners who already have smart home systems but need someone to maintain, update or troubleshoot them. We'll look at what's there, figure out what can be supported and recommend any changes that make sense. We're not interested in replacing perfectly good equipment if we don't have to.
